about

Mount and Lion’s new release features all original songs that are, at once, gritty and smooth, raw and intricate, mysterious and transparent. Full of emotion and energy, the songs don’t always directly tell the story, but paint hints of a back-story and draw in the listener as they try to fill in the gaps.

‘Say My Name’ asks someone, seductively close yet far away, to do just that with a steady hook, “The Doors – like” vocals, and a crescendo that builds relentlessly to the end . Mellow Edge is a song you savor; smooth and bluesy with jazz- laced finger pretzel riffs, punctuated with edgy vocals; with brilliant percussion from Brandon, and a head-turning guitar solo, this a song you want to share. ‘After Tonight’ will be a favorite; it is seductive, bitter-sweet, and shows the first hints of a Nashville influence in Harrison’s music. 'Another One' is a driving rock track that has some great twists, poly-rhythms, and guitar work. ‘On-Lookout’ is a got-to-hear-it tune featuring a driving poly-rhythm with the message to a muse that “I’ll be - at the bottom - if you need me - of the ocean with the people who would keep - me - from you’.

You can sense the energy of the band as they recorded the songs playing together in one or two takes each over two days in the studio. From the soul to the fingers and vocal chords to the mics. No frills, no franken-mixing, no do-overs. It's real, straight ahead music-making that will leave you wanting more.
